Culture Porn.

Because viral is the new black.
What makes you excited?

When’s the perfect time to make a celebrity cameo? Well, if you were on the 1960s TV seriesBatman, it would be while the masked heroes were climbing up or down a wall. OF COURSE!

The Insides of an Instrument
This print campaign for the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra uses macro photographs taken inside the cramped spaces of instruments making the inner workings of a violin, cello, flute, and pipe organ appear vast and spacious, almost as if you could walk around inside them. So wonderfully done. Art directed by photographer Bjoern Ewers, you can see more over on Behance.

Brilliant.

Found this old photo I took while I was in India, spring of 2006. Memories are like time travel.

Karen O: Stop the Virgens

A pretty sweet documentary is up on The Creators Project site. It chronicles the work for Karen O’s awesome theatre experience, Stop The Virgens. If you missed it at St. Ann’s Warehouse.. this will make you want to punch yourself for ever having other plans besides going to see this.

You want to know what your new jam is? Need something to get you ready for that upcoming spring solstice? Don’t have the right song to show your new beau how sick you are on the dance floor? Want me to stop asking you so many rhetorical questions?

Without further verbal proliferations, this is AVAN LAVA. The song is “It’s Never Over.” Now shake it.

Check out the new zoomerific video for Brooklyn’s Bear in Heaven. The song is “Reflection of You,” from their upcoming album I Love You, It’s Cool. (out April 3rd on Dead Oceans) Just try to not shake your booty. I dare you.

Just showing some love to my home state. Will be purchasing this asap.
The opening sentence on Old Try’s “About” page states:

“We’re a couple from Alabama and North Carolina who moved to Boston a few years back. We miss the South. But we aren’t quite ready to move back there.”
Boy, do I know what you mean. I think most Southerners transplanted in the North, East, or West can relate to the strong pull of the South, forever, yet the eagerness to explore elsewhere. I love these designs, but like a true Southerner From Another Mother, I want to support my people.
See more of what Old Try is all about and let’s have a round of applause for the South! (We’re not proud, are we?)
